On 5 March 2018, Specialist Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering (22nd Intake) and Applied Diploma in Aerospace Maintenance (10th Intake) commenced. SAME is a one year full-time Cat A1 programme conducted by Air Transport Training College, whereas ADAM is a eight month full-time course.
The SAME programme integrates the WSQ aerospace competency units with specialisation in Aircraft Maintenance (Mechanical). Students attending this diploma programme will graduate with a SAR-66 Category A1 Certifying Technicians Training Certificate. Graduates have the options to attain the Cat A1 Licence after fulfilling an additional one year of relevant work experience or to further pursue the Foundation Degree in Aircraft Engineering (FdEng) offered by Kingston University London. SAME graduates were employed by aviation companies such as Thales Aerospace Asia Pte Ltd, GE Aviation, Singapore Aero Engine Services Pte Ltd, Pratt & Whitney Services Pte Ltd, Rolls Royce Singapore Pte Ltd, Fokker Services Asia Pte Ltd, Honeywell Aerospace Singapore Pte Ltd and ST Aerospace Limited.
The ADAM programme is developed to meet the industry’s need for more non-certifying aerospace technicians, and contextualized to comply partially with the SAR-66 Category A1 syllabus prescribed by CAAS for Aircraft Maintenance Licensing.
