If you are interested in a career in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) engineering and would rise to the challenge of maintaining a plane, this is the course for you.

Industry Need
This is an industry-based, vocational qualification designed for people who want to get a practical start to their career.

In addition to providing a fast-track entry to industry, this course gives you the option of taking your studies further to a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Aircraft Engineering awarded by Kingston University London through a Top Up programme.

Course Objectives
This course covers the basic knowledge requirements for the SAR Part 66 Cat B1.1 Licence and the Foundation Degree in Aircraft Engineering (FdEng) requirements of Kingston University London.

With 8 Aerospace WSQ modules embedded within the syllabus, successful graduands will concurrently attain the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Higher Certificate in Aerospace Maintenance (Aircraft Maintenance – Mechanical) and  Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Higher Certificate in Aerospace Maintenance (Engine/Engine Repair and Overhaul).

Course Structure
The modules in this degree programme will provide a firm foundation for an Aircraft Engineer. A work-based module covers ‘hand skills’ to aircraft engineering standard. Other modules gives you an understanding of the work environment and legal requirements relating to the operation of commercial aircraft.

Modules
AE4001 Mathematics and Physics for Practitioner Engineers (BM01 & BM02)
AE4002 Electrical Engineering Fundamentals (BM03)
AE4003 Aerodynamics and Aircraft Electronic and Digital Systems (BM04, BM05, BM08)
AE4010 Aircraft Practical and HE Study Skills (Practical Skills)
AE5001 Aircraft Materials, Hardware and Maintenance (BM06 & BM07)
AE5002 Aircraft and Their Systems (BM11A)
AE5010 Aircraft Maintenance and Professional Practice (BM09, BM10 & Practical Skills)
AE5011 Propulsion Systems (BM15 & BM17)

WSQ Units (Integrated)
Eight Aerospace WSQ units are integrated into the 2 years 3 months curriculum. Successful graduands will concurrently attain the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Higher Certificate in Aerospace Maintenance (Aircraft Maintenance – Mechanical) and Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Higher Certificate in Aerospace Maintenance (Engine/Engine Repair and Overhaul)
